Cathy Corison is one of Napa’s leading lights – a matriarch of the region who crafts defiantly elegant Cabernet Sauvignon from her old vines on the benchland between Rutherford and St Helena. These refined, long-ageing wines are some of Napa’s most impressive.

Corison studied at UC Davis with an illustrious class, including the likes of John Kongsgaard and Randall Grahm. After graduating, she worked at Freemark Abbey, Yverdon and Chappellet, before deciding she wanted to make wine under own name. In 1987, she started sourcing fruit to craft the first Corison wines, while still working at the likes of Staglin, York Creek and Long Meadow Ranch.
