Mid amber-brown with some olive tinges to the rim. Smoky, nutty and really quite earthy too – a not particularly attractive character, it must be said. There’s harmony between sweetness and acidity that works well on the palate, albeit with a bit of tannic grip and some warmth through the finish. Decent length, but I’m disappointed by the nose. (TJ)

Walnut brown. Showing a very definite umami character on the nose, then sweeter than I expected on the palate. Great depth and richness and fills the palate. Sour-sweet freshness on the finish, very complex and nutty, more savoury than fruit with this level of oxidation. (JH)
