Score 93/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Oct 2014

The 2011 Magari IGT is a soft and savory wine that boasts dark extraction and a high degree of aromatic intensity. Lush cherry and blackberry emerge from this blend of mostly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. You feel a point of alcoholic heat that is in line with the warm 2011 vintage, that extra power folds nicely within the broad texture of the mouthfeel.

Black fruit, Mediterranean herbs, mocha, grilled herbs, leather and tobacco are some of the notes that flesh out in 2011 Magari. Rich, deep and beguiling the 2011 is effortless all the way through to the ample, warm finish as it shows the resonance that is such a signature of Bolgheri. This is a terrific showing in a challenging for Maremma.

Mocha, raspberry jam, flowers and sweet herbs flesh out in the 2011 Magari. An open, resonant wine, the 2011 impresses for its texture, length and balance, all things that have improved since this wine was first produced in 2001. Today, the French oak is a little pronounced, so I would wait at least another year before drinking the 2011. This is an impeccably polished wine for a year that had its share of challenges. The 2011 is 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc.
