The 1976 Dom Pérignon (Original Release) possesses a very distinctive set of baritone inflections that give the wine its powerful, deep personality. Ripe and full-bodied on the palate, yet very much in the Dom Pérignon style, the 1976 is a wine of textural intensity and raciness. On this night, it is superb.

The 1976 Dom Pérignon, from magnum, shows all of the power and breath that are typical of this warm vintage. Remarkably vivid for such a big, rich wine, the 1976 is superb from the big bottle.

Magnum – our second from the heatwave summer of 1976 about which we 1950-ers enjoyed reminiscing. This one seemed a little old, austere and fruitless to me – but this may simply have been the effect of tasting it immediately after Taylor's 1985 vintage port – in which case I apologise. (JR)

I loved the 1976 Dom Pérignon, one of my all-time favorite vintages. Tasted from magnum, it revealed marvelous depth, with a rich baritone voice and hints of smoke, ash and licorice that lingered on the finish. It was simply magnificent.
