Léclapart’s NV Blanc de Blancs L'Apôtre (2020), a single-site wine from the lieu-dit La Pierre Saint-Martin in Trépail—a plot rich in clay and silex and planted in 1946—was vinified entirely in oak barrels, ranging from one to 26 years old. Disgorged à la volée for tasting in February 2025, it bursts with a deep bouquet of bread crust, jasmine, lemon zest and smoke, framed by youthful reduction. Full-bodied and concentrated yet taut and saline, it concludes with a tangy, mineral finish. With greater mid-palate amplitude than the other wines in Léclapart’s range, this cuvée is sure to drink even better a year or two after its intended April 2025 disgorgement. Readers may have noted the absence of L'Apôtre between 2016 and 2019, a gap caused by adverse weather conditions or problems with volatile acidity.
