Ch. Haut-Simard

Ch. Haut-Simard is owned by the Vauthier family of Ch. Ausone. Since Alain Vauthier took over the Saint-Emilion estate in 2008, quality here has risen exponentially with vintages from 2019 onwards in particular showing the potential of this exceptional terroir.

Ch. Haut-Simard was originally part of Ch. Simard – divided in two in the late 19th century by a railroad. The property dates back to the 16th century, getting its name from the Simard family who owned it in the 1860s. Leonard and Charlotte Gratadoux built the cellar that is still in use today, however it is Claude “Coco” Mazière (Alain Vauthier’s uncle) who long ran the estate.
