A last minute addition to this tasting, 1978 Dom Pérignon Œnothèque Rosé (magnum) is superb and also the freshest of the four 1970s wines in this grouping. The magnum format no doubt helps, as this is a truly great showing. The 1978 is a bit compact, austere and at times slightly green/savory, yet it retains striking energy. Sweet tobacco, leather and cedar overtones linger on the super-expressive finish. Disgorged 2004.
