Score 89/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Aug 2007

The 2003 Saumur Breze displays aromas and flavors of quince preserves, citrus candy, flowers, toasted almond, and hints of caramel and dried plum. A zesty pungency grows on the palate, but the desiccated side of the wine does not preclude a certain juicy refreshment, nicely balanced by a creamy texture. The finish is both honeyed and zesty, with a hint of sweetness. (Lest one imagine that the Foucaults can do no wrong in my nostrils, I was quite underwhelmed with their 2001 white. For notes on the domaine’s reds, please consult the coverage of Cabernet Franc elsewhere in this report.) Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 334-8191
