Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2020, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2016

The 2010 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Vénus Grand Cru is soft, open-knit and quite approachable. Like all of the 2010s here, the Vénus is a bit forward. For that reason, I would prefer to drink it on the younger side. Dried pear, crushed flowers, mint and chamomile are some of the many notes that are laced into the finish. The 2010 is a pretty wine, although the visceral thrill of the very best editions isn't quite there. The tiny La Fosse vineyard in Avize is the source for the Vénus, which is done in cask, with full malolactic fermentation and bottled with no dosage. Disgorged: March 2016.
