Tasted blind in a comparison of champagne and English sparkling wine. 100% Chardonnay. Quite mature nose with lots of autolysis and a suggestion of some oak influence. Very nice and satisfying for those who like stereotypical Bolly style. Bone dry. Just a little short? (JR)

Agrapart's 2010 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs L'Avizoise Grand Cru is powerful, rich and intense. Dried flowers, chamomile, roasted nuts and oak notes are front and center. Like the, Minéral the Avizoise feels a bit forward. There is plenty of power and intensity, but the finish is a bit short and the wine lacks its customary complexity. All things considered, this is an awkward showing. The Avizoise is a blend of old-vine fruit from Les Robarts and La Voie d’Epernay done in 600L tonneaux and bottled with 5 grams of dosage. Disgorged: March 2016.
