Score 17/20 · Drink 2017-2025, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2015

Old vines (some over 100 years) and old French and American oak hogsheads for 12 months. The first release was in 1992, labelled 'Old Vine Barossa Valley', and elevated to Bin status for the 1998 vintage. In a good year for Grenache, the blend is predominantly Grenache. This is 75% Shiraz, 15% Grenache, 10% Mataro. TA 6.1 g/l, pH 3.6. Blackish crimson. Scented, really rich and gentle. Lots of chew to balance but it’s overall very smudgy and flattering. Very gentle and the alcohol is well mastered. Alcohols seem more and more integrated. (JR)
