Released after five years – ‘a good option for Hatch Mansfield [their UK importer] when they are selling out of burgundy’, I am told by their head of marketing Katie Macaulay. Cedary oak with something like celery salt on the nose. Crisp citrus, lots of mealy oak and a strong toasty aftertaste, with just a touch of struck match. Deep in fruit and really would have been too to early to drink this before now. It is still oaky but has the freshness of fruit to handle it. (JH)
