Tasting notes
The 2016 Recher Herrenberg Spätburgunder GG is pure, refined and intensely fruity on the nose. The palate is rich, very intense and powerful but also caramelly, tannic and rich with quite a lot of power on the finish. Tasted in August 2020.

75% new oak. TA 5.5 g/l, RS 2.0 g/l. Smells warm, sweet and spicy on the nose, deeply spiced sweet red fruits. Great depth of spicy red fruit, firm, fine tannins. Compact and needs time to open and become more expressive but everything is in balance for a long future. Deep and pure and savoury on the finish, with the dry texture of the best Pinot. (JH)
Mediterranean flair with aromas of ripe mulberry and Provençal herbs. Belgian chocolate and the juice of dark berries almost overwhelm the palate, before being called to order by a firm tannin structure. A fine dusty notion composed of graphite minerality and subtle cedar spice adds sophistication. (MS)
