Drink 2019-2028, FINE+RARE, Mar 2019

The 2017s from Le Grappin are defined by their bright, fragrant aromas and crunchy acidity and this is no more apparent than in their beautiful Beaune Premier Cru, Boucherottes. Deeper on the palate than their Savigny and with additional baked blue fruit and red cherry flavours, the wine has a lovely layered tannin structure that is incredibly fine and silky. The wine has that delightful Grappin-esque purity of fruit – it’s beautiful.

Bright pale crimson. But the nose, by contrast, is pretty intense. Lots of fine tannins and ambition. Pretty fruit in abundance. Definitely more interesting than their Beaune Blanc. Faint hint of coffee grains on the end and all potential rather than actuality. (JR)
