Score 89/100 · Drink 2015-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jul 2015

The 1999 Côte Grand Cru, from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, comes across as pretty and understated in its expression of Chardonnay. Delicate and lifted, the 1999 graces the palate with the essence of lemon peel and white flowers. Tasted from magnum, the 1999 is a bit fragile, but it is quite appealing just the same, especially in the way it has aged gracefully. Dosage is 3 grams/liter.

Petrol, smoke, dried flowers, hazelnuts and dried apricots meld together in the 1999 Côte Grand Cru. Layered and expressive at the outset, the 1999 offers good balance, even if it loses some persistence on the finish. Only 160 magnums were made. This bottle was disgorged in December 2013. Dosage is 2 grams per liter.
