Score 17/20 · Drink 2023-2028, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2023

A single vintage, single vineyard Manzanilla (Pago Miraflores La Baja, Sanlúcar) made from Palomino Fino that was kept under flor for one year before light fortification and a further three years of ageing. Pale gold. More fragrant and lightly floral than you expect from Manzanilla. Delicate flor elements among white fruits. Delicate and vinous. In time, more sandy/mineral elements and a little tomato leaf. Rounded, melon-like on the palate, with a central mineral spine. (DB)

The young and tender 2018 La Bota de Manzanilla 111 Florpower MMXVIII was shy and austere, but after bottling (it was bottled in February 2022), it was a bit dizzy in the nose, but the palate shows much better, like many of the 2018 wines I had seen in other bottlings. It's a cooler year with balance and freshness and aging potential.
