2016 La Fleur Pourret

This little-known tiny Saint-Emilion property is part of the Figeac stable. Managed by Figeac’s team and headed up by their much-celebrated winemaker Frédéric Faye, La Fleur Pourret offers exceptional value considering the pedigree – especially in the superb 2016 vintage. The wine has a deep purple colour with rich cassis, liquorice, and peppery, herbal spice notes. The tannins are beautifully supple and fine-boned, bringing impressive depth to the palate. On the palate, there’s a swathe of forest fruit, wild raspberry, red cherry and plum with a touch of graphite too. The wine is framed nicely by the oak tannins which add structure, while remaining well integrated with the juicy, fleshy fruit on the mid-palate. It ends with a lovely cassis note, bringing lift and freshness to the finish.
