The 2017 Barolo Riserva Bussia Dardi Beppe Colla is superb. Dark, strapping and imposing, the Riserva captures all the structure and balsamic intensity of Bussia. Black cherry, menthol, cloves, licorice, dried flowers, truffle and mocha all build in the glass. Huge, soaring tannins wrap it all together. This is a wine that deserves to be followed over several hours.

The 2017 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is superb. Classy and poised, the 2017 captures all the personality of Bussia. The Colla Barolos typically need a few years to shine. I imagine that will be the case here as well. As attractive as the 2017 is today, the best is yet to come. Crushed flowers, spice, sweet pipe tobacco and incense lend considerable nuance to a core of sweet Nebbiolo fruit. What a pretty wine this is.
Monforte d'Alba. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby with bricky rim. Brooding and ripe but not yet open on the nose. Mouth-filling red fruit matched by long chewy tannins and perfectly balanced. Great tannic grip on a plush fruit finish. (WS)
The 2017 Barolo Bussia has lifted aromatics of licorice, tar, dried cherry, and dried roses. The palate is savory with bitter herbs, dried raspberry, and burnt orange peel. Drink 2024-2036.
