The 2021 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a wonderful bouquet with mineral-laden citrus fruit, quite understated at first yet there is superb delineation and focus. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity. There is a patina of new oak to be subsumed, so wait another 12 to 18 months because this is a top-notch Saint-Aubin. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru was reduced from 25 to just 8 barrels this vintage. It has a more tertiary bouquet compared to other vintages, a little sultry at this stage where it usually exudes brightness. The palate is well balanced with a malic entry and decent weight, yet at the moment, it is missing some tension and mineralité on the finish. The jury is out here at the moment.

Wafting from the glass with notes of pear, citrus oil, freshly baked bread and nutty reduction, the 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with good concentration, racy acids and chalky structuring extract. Hard hit by the frost, this parcel delivered less than one-third of a usual crop.
