Bright, light yellow. Pure tension on the nose, with aromas of blood orange and citrus zest dominating. Boasts outstanding fruit intensity and crunchiness, with a vibrant white peach flavor complicated by a suggestion of grilled pips. Utterly seamless wine but with outstanding inner-mouth lift from brisk, noble acidity (4.5 grams per liter, according to Pillot) without any herbacity. This adamantly primary, intensely juicy premier cru builds dramatically on its peacock's tail of a finish. Stunning potential here.

(these vines are now a hundred years old, according to Pillot, who produced just three barrels of this juice in 2014, the equivalent of 17 hectoliters per hectare): Dusty brown spices plus some ripe nutty notes on the reticent nose. Densely packed and highly concentrated, conveying a tactile solidity to the flavors of lemon, blood orange, toasted bread and saline minerality. A powerful expression of rock with a thick, very long finish featuring a youthful citrus edge. Even in the fully ripe years, there are always green-tinged grapes here, notes Pillot. A premier cru of near-grand cru quality--as in most years.
