2010 Volnay Caillerets

(made from 100% destemmed fruit): Medium red. Ripe but shy aromas of strawberry, smoke and licorice. Fat, sweet and dense but youthfully backward; comes across as less elegant and pure than the more perfumed 2011 version. The tight finish features building but rather suave tannins.
