Readers tempted to open Valentini's 2010 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo young should resist that urge. Today, the 2010 comes across as quite pretty and medium in body, but it also needs at least another year in bottle to come together. More than a wine of aromas and flavors, the Valentini Rose is really more a wine of texture. The 2010 looks to be a relatively delicate version of one of Italy's most compelling and iconic Roses. I especially like the salinity and energy of the finish. As good as the 2010 is, it remains very tight and in need of considerable aeration.

These are two drop-dead gorgeous wines from Valentini, one of Italy’s most iconic producers.
