100% Pinot Meunier from vines planted in 1996 and 1999. Dosage 2 g/l. Disgorged November 2022. A really bluesy, blue-fruited Meunier champagne. Blueberry, baharat spice and a touch of ink. Stony length but widely and warmly welcoming. A gastronomic champagne – I could imagine this being delicious with game-bird pathivier or, even, a rustic ham sandwich ( lots of ham packed into crusty bread, crunchy lettuce, a smear of mustard). The 2019 Extra-Brut Rive Gauche, 100% Meunier, is soft, creamy and quite engaging right out of the gate. Dried pear, spice, mint, dried flowers and chamomile are some of the notes that grace the 2019. Today, the Rive Gauche is quite understated, almost surprisingly so given its 11.3% natural alcohol. This is usually a more extroverted wine. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: November 2022.
