Exotic aromas of peach and charred oak. Fat, sweet, ripe and quite dry, with a flavor of pineapple. Low in acid but not heavy; in fact, this is not at all flat. The crop level here was just 15 hectoliters per hectare, due mostly to the early April frost, according to Boudot. In fact, nearly 90% of this wine was second-generation fruit.

Aromatically demure, the 2003 Puligny-Montrachet (white) is light to medium-bodied, focused, and fresh. Crisp pears are intermingled with minerals in its well-balanced, persistent personality. Drink it over the next 3 years.

(already assembled; there's less than half a normal crop of this cuvee due to frost on April 11) More fruit-driven, aromatic nose of peach and minerals. Sweet but lively; less obviously fat than the Chassagne villages but the wine's high-pitched lemony element gives it more snap. This has a better balance, no doubt due to the fact that more second generation grapes, which brought more acidity, were included in the blend. The pH of 3. 4 was the lowest of these 2003s, according to Boudot.
