Score 84/100 · Robert Parker, Apr 2000

A fine effort from this property, Maucaillou's 1997 exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color, intense cassis and jammy cranberry fruit, fat, voluptuous flavors, low acidity, and excellent purity. This delicious offering is a potential sleeper of the vintage. (No tasting note was provided in Issue 128. We have instead included the text of the tasting note from Issue 116)

Good ruby-red color. Ripe currant, black cherry and smoke nose. Supple and rather easygoing, with good texture and a rather soft structure. Finishes with dusty, even tannins and decent length.
