Good medium red. Ripe cherry, smoke and chocolate on the nose. Silky, lush and aromatic in the mouth, with captivating flavors of red fruits and chocolate. Wonderfully suave, vibrant wine with considerable charm. Expands impressively on the back end, finishing long and perfumed. A lovely Volnay.

Good dark red. Raspberry and spices on the nose. Juicy, very pure red fruit flavors are enlivened by a stony nuance, giving this wine lovely inner-mouth perfume. As broad and sweet as this is, it's even more noteworthy for its vibrant, sappy finish, which leaves the palate quivering. The crop level here was just 28 hectoliters per hectare, according to Lafarge. A beauty in the making.

Firm tannins with a superficial lightness and smoothness and then dark power underneath. Spicy, firm, rich and deeply flavoured. (JH)
