This is very tight and powerful with spicy and rich tannins that are slightly austere, but in a very good way. Full-bodied and medium-chewy yet racy and tense. Shows focus and length. Try after 2023.

An haute couture effort from Napa Valley is the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from the Bure estate vineyard and the winemaking talents of Benoit Touquette. This beauty offers up classic blackcurrant and blueberry fruits intermixed with ample leafy herbs, damp underbrush, and lead pencil nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, juicy, fresh, and lively on the plate, with a pure, elegant, charming style that still carries serious power and length. It's a beautiful, rich yet elegant 2016 that will benefit from short-term cellaring and shine for two decades or more. Bure Family Wines was started in 2006 with the release of two wines, one a Bordeaux blend from To Kalon and Missouri Hopper, and the other a straight Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate vineyard, which sits next to Vineyard 29. The first few vintages were made by Luc Morlet, with Benoit Touquette taking over the winemaking in 2016.
