Full bottle 1,354 g. 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah. The two varieties are vinified and aged separately. 12 months in third-use barrels. Towering power and rich magnificence. Black cherries and purple plums, dusty allspice fragrance, balsamic depth. The fruit is sensuous, the tannins are long and firm and dense and beautifully polished to a gleam. Coffee notes on the end. You really, really want this with a gorgeous venison pie or something like  fegato alla veneziana  (Venetian liver and onions) – anything rich and dark and gamey. (TC)

Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2024-2025, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Apr 2024

Full bottle 1,350 g.  Slightly odd nose. A bit like the water in a flower vase after a couple of days – not quite stagnant, but almost an edge of leafy, green-stem decay. The components are all there: yellow-citrus acidity, salt-crust minerality, vineyard-peach fruit, grassy green; tight; racy; clipped. It just doesn't (hasn't yet?) come together. Better with (Sharpham's medium-hard 'Rustic') cheese than without, but it seems to have a hollow heart. (TC)
