A beauty, the 2004 Gigondas Cuvee Ventabren (70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault aged in older barrels) gives up pretty, perfumed sweet blackberry and currant-styled fruits, spice, charcuterie and hints of underbrush to go with a medium-bodied, elegant profile on the palate. I love the purity of fruit here, and at ten years of age, it’s just now entering the early stages of maturity. Clean, pure and all around outstanding, enjoy bottles over the coming 5-7 years.
