Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2019 Cabernet Franc Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard (tasted from magnum) is quite closed at this stage. With considerable swirling, fragrant scents of Morello cherries, black raspberries and redcurrant jelly waft from the glass with an earthy undercurrent of dusty soil, black truffles and mossy tree bark, plus a touch of pencil shavings. The tight-knit, full-bodied palate has a beautiful, finely grained texture with bags of freshness lifting the layered red and black fruits, finishing very long and fantastically earthy. This highly cerebral expression of this iconic vineyard will reward the patient. Give it a good 6-8 years in magnum and drink it over the next 40+ years.
