Good deep ruby. Floral aromas of boysenberry, chocolate, vanilla and mint. Supple and shapely; dark berry fruit enlivened by firm acids. A serious style of Pavillon Rouge, with a firm tannic spine. Among recent vintages of this wine, only the '95 is stronger, says Pontallier. Fifteen percent of the estate '98 crop was sold off in bulk to protect the quality of this second wine.
