Very dark in colour. This is a big, masculine beast this year, but again that juicy underlying fruit is a delight and like the best wines this year there is space in the fruit.

This starts out reserved, and then quietly builds in strength, showing velvety tannins, creamy blackberry and blackcurrant hedgerow, full of Pauillac character and tannins but far less forbidding that it was as a young wine. Love how much this has grown into itself over ageing.

The 2010 Duhart-Milon has a backward nose that is going through a dumb phase. There is plenty of fruit here but it is “locked down” at the moment. The palate is very well defined with crisp acidity, fine-boned tannins and superb balanced. It is not a deep or grippy Pauillac, but it feels...streamlined, athletic and wonderfully poised on the graphite infused finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
