The 2011 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the recent gems from the estate and should not be ignored. It offers a pure, engaging bouquet of orange zest, canned pineapple, almond and petrichor aromas that burst from the glass. It may be a little more closed compared to when I last tasted it. The palate is beautifully balanced and very harmonious; this 2011 is built around tension and energy. Maybe it pulls up a little short in terms of length, but otherwise this is a very assured and classy Lafaurie-Peyraguey in the making. Tasted from an ex-château bottle sent to my home.

Tasted blind. Just a little mousey on the nose. Solid concentration of fruit and good tension. But still embryonic. Hint of something burnt on the finish – impressively long. (JR)

Slightly woody, Sauvignon Blanc nose and rather insipid on the palate. Sweet but not much complexity. (JH)
