2018 Domaine François Bertheau Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

Discreet but not invisible wood sets off the more deeply pitched aromas of menthol, cassis and once again plum liqueur. The supple yet quite concentrated large-scaled flavors are rich to the point of being opulent, all wrapped in a very firm and built-to-age finish. This muscular effort is at once refreshing but very, very serious, indeed it is not really in the Bertheau style. With that said, it's a terrific wine.
