These are Van Canneyt�s oldest vines, planted circa 1910. No surprise, therefore, that this wine is vivid in its intensity � the deep-rooted centenarians producing fruit of great concentration. Incredibly pure, with a combination of red and black rather than the blue fruit that dominates the Beaumonts. This is a step above the Beaumonts, with eyet more energy. There�s beautiful freshness and a redcurrant twist to the fine-structured, long finish.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with black cherries, violet and raspberry fruit. It's elegant yet there is plenty of fruit that feels very…Suchots. The palate is medium-bodied, not weighty and less powerful than its peers, but I can admire its tension and finesse, a rarer commodity in this vintage vis-a-vis others. Black pepper is judiciously sprinkled over the finish. This is a very fine Vosne-Romanée. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
Exhibiting aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with baking chocolate, exotic spices and orange rind, the 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots is full-bodied, layered and enveloping, its broad attack segueing into a deep, concentrated mid-palate and a long, precise finish. It's a brilliant wine in the making.

Founded in 1962 by Alain Hudelot and based in Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is today run by Alain’s grandson Charles van Canneyt and has become one of the region’s most respected estates.
