The 2017 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru presents a light apple blossom, crushed rock and jasmine nose, quintessentially Perrières in style. The palate has a candied opening with orange zest and a touch of peach. Pretty and vibrant, although it does not possess the tension of Comtes-Lafon’s Perrières that preceded it. Drink over the next 12–14 years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières derives from a parcel situated next to Grivault's Clos des Perrières. Unwinding in the glass with scents of musky peach, white flowers, fresh pear and nutmeg, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with fine tension at the core, racy acids and a long, mineral finish.

The 2017 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru is clearly the pick from winemaker Charles Ballot this year. It has a wonderful, mineral-rich, tensile bouquet that displays much more energy and conviction than the Genevrières. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, offering orange peel and dried apricot notes, and very long and expansive toward the finish. Superb.
