Fantastic depth of fruit on the nose. Violet, raspberry and orange-peel character. Full-bodied and compact with a cylinder of fruit and dried flowers at the end. Tannic yet so impressive. True Echezeaux. Better after 2023.

0.5 ha. Near Clos St-Denis. Barrel sample. Ripe dark-red richness on the nose. But rather dry and tight on the palate and fades rather soon. All on the nose at the moment. Needs to take on flesh. Will it? That’s why it is still in the barrel and will be on lees till Easter, says Pacalet. Dry but refined in texture. Temporary severity? (JH)
