Mid ruby. Heady, mousy, then rather attractive and extremely punchy. Lots of extract and alcohol but very chewy end. Drying out. (JR)

Medium bright red. Complex nose offers bitter cherry, redcurrant, licorice, spices, clove and flowers. Sweet but tight and serious, with lovely floral lift to its flavors of red fruits, spices and incense. As vibrant as this is, it's still a baby and hiding more than it's showing today. Finishes with substantial building, dusty tannins and excellent length.

Good full red. Sexy, rather exotic nose combines smoked meat with strong torrefaction scents of barbecue sauce, roasted chestnut and maple syrup. Then sweet and plush in the mouth, delivering an impression of thickness without excess weight. A saline element accentuates the rather low-toned character of this wine. This has real grand cru suavity of texture but I found myself wishing for some more high notes-and less smoky oak. Incidentally, Hervet described the young 2007 Echezeaux as "the king of the cellar."
