100% Sauvignon Blanc. 600-l casks, all new, for nine months and then settled in tank – no fining or filtration. Deep straw. Oaky, broad, rather smudgy nose. Very backward with perhaps a little sulphur still evident? Much less evidently varietal than the Iona 2015 Sauvignon served alongside. A little surly at present. (JR)

Fermentation in 500- and 600-litre demi-muids, also 600-litre cigares. 25% new oak, 25% 1 year old, 25% 2 year old. Aged in oak and tank. Smoky and a firmly reductive. Dry and really savoury on the palate. Deep, fresh-sour quince fruit on the palate. Really intense and amazingly concentrated. Fabulous, vinous, dry but almost viscous in its depth.
