One of the best choices for maximum value is this effort produced by famed winemaking consultant Stephane Derenoncourt, who is a co-owner of this estate. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2001 is lighter than its 2000 counterpart, but is a pleasingly fragrant offering with no hard edges and a soft finish. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.

Bourg & Blaye. Very deep crimson. Fresh and lively. Slightly herbaceous aromas and silky texture. Not too concentrated. Appetising. (JR)
