A big-time sleeper of the vintage, this equal-part blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc has put on weight since I tasted it from barrel. It displays wonderfully sumptuous blueberry and black raspberry fruit, hints of underbrush and forest floor, a rich, broad, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a surprisingly long finish. This is one of the most reasonably priced wines of St.-Emilion, so enjoy it over the next 7-8 years.
90-92 Barrel sample. Owned by Château Angélus, a soft and gentle wine, wearing its fruit on its sleeve, the tannins light, followed by a juicy texture. — Roger Voss
