Score 87/100 · Drink 2003-2004, Robert Parker, Feb 1993

In some ways, it is a shame that the 1989 La Dominique is such a show-stopping effort for it overwhelms the 1988. The 1988 is a more typical (or as the Bordelais would have you believe, more classic) effort, with an alluring and precocious, big bouquet of plummy fruit and sweet vanillin-scented oak. This wine offers exuberantly rich, fruity, opulent flavors, medium to full body, and a long, satiny finish. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.
