Tasted blind. Pale garnet in colour. Sweet red cherry, bitter almond, olive, dusty dried earth, and animal funk. Still-grippy tannin and mouth-watering acidity. Lengthy walnut-skin-laced finish – a touch tired – past prime but still very good. (SCJ)

‘An exceptional year’, with a dry winter, fresh spring, good flowering. Mild summer with a cloudy July and August, and a hot, sunny September. Bright garnet. Pale rim. Broad and rich with a minty note. More mainstream than many in terms of its build and flavours. Still evolving but beautifully balanced. Lots of energy and transparency. No heaviness at all. Rich but lifted. Already gorgeous but there are tannins behind the exotic fruit and brilliant freshness. Still quite youthful. (JR)

Opened to celebrate my MW success. Pale ruby – quite like Pinot Noir in colour. Not at all weird on the nose, but certainly very savoury – leather, earth, bramble fruit. Beautiful maturity – really medicinal and cedary. For Musar, this is positively conventional – it evokes mature Médoc crossed with mature southern Rhône. Succulent and refined. (RH)
