1999 Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals the vintage's higher acidity, a finesse-filled personality, a dark ruby color, and a spicy, herbaceous, leather-scented bouquet. This medium-bodied, fine-tuned Chateauneuf offers copious quantities of berry/cherry fruit as well as fine freshness. It should drink well for 10-12 years. Red-ruby. Sappy, liqueur-like aromas of raspberry, blackberry and violet, along with an exotic suggestion of poire Silky and voluminous; offers an especially enveloping texture for a '99 but ripe acids give it lovely purity and definition. Still youthfully tight on the back end, but long and aromatic.
