Full bottle 1,668 g. 100% Pinot Noir sourced predominantly from Silver Eagle, Gap's Crown and Ferrington vineyards. Aged 6 months in barrel before bottling and 52 months on lees. 4 g/l dosage. Disgorged June 2024. Medium orangey-pink. Rainier cherries and pastry-cream nose. A textural blood-orange pithiness with a broad, chewy mid palate and refreshing acidity. Very weighty with a titch of sweetness on the long finish. (SCJ)

Westborn's 2019 Rosé is 100% Pinot Noir, which spent six months in barrel as a base wine before being blended and bottled for its second fermentation, then spent 52 months on the lees prior to being disgorged. There's a delicate, pale-pink hue, seductive scents of crushed stone, strawberry, citrus and a medium-bodied palate that's creamy in texture, with a long, tart lime-driven finish. Partners Russell Bevan and Weston Eidson pointed out that the vintage rosé is unlikely to be made every year.
The debut 2019 Rosé is pretty, but it is also clearly a work in progress. Grapefruit, mint, chalk and slate open in a light, airy sparkling Rosé. Given the quality and ambition here, I have no doubt Russell Bevan and his team will get this cuvee right in time. Dosage is 4 grams per liter.
