Mid garnet. Peppery nose. Sweet start. A little awkward – not integrated. Very jagged finish with the acidity and tannin and much lower-key fruit all separate elements. (JR)

The 2015 Grand Corbin is a powerful, dense wine. Dark raspberry jam, chocolate, new leather, spice and menthol fill out the wine nicely. The 2015 remains a brute, with searing tannins that need at least a few years to settle down. There is more power here than finesse, but even so, there is good potential. The blend is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasted two times.

The 2015 Grand Corbin is a blend of 80% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, all from sandier, clay soils, aged in 30% new barrels. It offers classic red and black fruits, lots of underbrush and bouquet garni aromas and flavors, medium-bodied richness and lively acidity. It's a solid, balanced effort to drink over the coming 7-8 years.
