The 2020 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru has a rich and powerful bouquet, certainly one that lacks subtlety with a very heavy reduction. The palate is dense but cumbersome, sour and dry on the flat and reductive finish. I actually found this difficult to put in my mouth. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers, hazelnuts and wet stones, the 2020 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru is medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with excellent concentration, racy acids and chalky structuring extract. It's a blend of very old vines with a more recent planting.

White-pepper nose and very taut and tight on the palate. More fruit please! (JR)
