Very fragrant and classic. Just the right degree of tannin to give structure, and bright acidity to keep it fresh. Chewy finish. Not the most elegant finish – a quick flash of bitterness seems incongruous – but still a good example of appellation and vintage. (RH)

Almost black. Round and sweet and not very classic Médoc. Lots of easy pleasure but not much depth or savour. Big but a bit coarse and burly. A bit rough and aggressive. Fades a bit fast. (JR)
