Deep garnet-brick colored, the 2002 The Octavius (Shiraz Old Vine) is wonderfully spicy and peppery with fragrant Indian spice and sandalwood complementing a core of prunes and baked blackberries. Medium to full-bodied, voluptuous and velvety, the palate is opulent and exotic, finishing with great depth and persistence.

Deep, saturated ruby. Very rich, almost roasted aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, musky cherry and dark chocolate, a subtle overlay of bourbony oak spice. Extremely thick and viscous; just this side of syrupy but the dark berry flavors remain lively and not muddy. Exotic tobacco and Asian spice notes add interest to the wine's liqueur-like blackberry and cassis qualities. Finishes long and sappy, with well-integrated tannins.
