Score 92/100 · Drink 2022-2037, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2022

The base 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot that spent 20 months in 70% new French oak. It's certainly worth seeking out. Loads of red and black currants as well as tobacco and spicy oak emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a round, sexy mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's happily drink it any time over the coming 10-15 years. 2500 cases.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Shy Series - Bale Mill Creek is a total knock-out. Competition is intense in this range, but the Bale Mill Creek might very well be the best wine in the bunch. It possesses stunning aromatic presence to match its super-classic, mid-weight structure. Gravel, spice, menthol, licorice and lavender are all beautifully delineated. A dollop of Cabernet Franc (14%) adds a sizzling upper register.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is soft, pliant and wonderfully inviting, with terrific energy that adds brightness to the red/purplish berry fruit, spice and rose petal flavors. This mid-weight, vibrant Cabernet is a terrific introduction to the year.
